Anise seed is native to the eastern Mediterranean region and
has been used since ancient times.

Anise is very aromatic and sweet, distinguished by its
licorice-like flavor. Used to flavor Turkish Raki, Arab Arak,
Greek Ouzo, Italian Sambuca etc.


GENERAL INFORMATION:

Production Area:

In Turkey most of the Aniseed cultivation takes places in Aegean and Mediterranean
regions. Izmir, Antalya, Burdur and Denizli cities have the highest production of anise.

Total Crop Size:

Turkey has an average crop size of 20.000 tones/year.

Production Period:

Usually aniseed is planted during April or May. After 4 months later (end of July) aniseeds are ready for the harvest.
